Dear Parents,
Christmas is just around the corner and as you already know, our children are bursting at the seams with the desire to perform! We are planning a wonderful Christmas play for them to prepare, but due to the lack of class time available to practice, we are setting up the drama program as an extra-curricular activity that will take place on 4 Fridays in November and December. The dates have been marked on our school calendar here on our website. They are November 6 and 20, and December 4, and 11. All of our kids who are currently attending public school should be available on those dates. This program will run in conjunction with MOPS so that those of you with younger children that are preschool age can also come out and have fun preparing a fun Christmas performance. The cost per person will be $30 and will be payable on the first date of the class. The class will run from 10 am to 12 pm followed by lunch time. For the purpose of planning, please indicate as soon as possible whether your child will be participating in this program. Let the show begin!

One special note: The school calendar has also been updated with dates for our upcoming Christmas and March Breaks, as well as our next school field trip in January. Thank you!

Homework Reminder for Parents
Dear Parents,
We had a very adorable Picture Day today...thank you for dressing up your little ones in such adorable little outfits. Each one of them was very excited and happy to be photographed. Our photographer, John Christianson was getting quite creative with the individual and group shots and will be preparing the photos for the parents to view over the course of the next couple of weeks. Once photos are ready, we will update you with details on how to order pictures.
Just a reminder to parents that the purpose of homework assignments is so that parents can assist their children on perfecting and reinforcing the handwriting and math skills that they are learning in class. Please ensure that you sit with your child and encourage them to use proper formation, particularly with handwriting homework. We noticed in the past couple of weeks that homework has been coming back to school obviously done by the children alone. We do encourage you to encourage your children to do the homework independently (where they hold the pencil themselves) but that you are still there to supervise in case of sloppiness or error in letter formation.
Please also continue practicing memory verses with your children on a daily basis. This week's memory verse, John 3:16, is a particularly long one in both English and French and will require a little bit of extra time. The French memory verses are just about ready to become available here on our web site within the next couple of days so please stay tuned for that resource as well.
Thank you very much and God bless you all,
Teachers Jen and Jean

The most fun you can have in the rain!!!
Hi Everyone,
I don't know about you, but that was the most fun I've ever had in the rain! At first I was so disappointed when I woke up this morning that the weather was so wet and there was no sign of letting up, but the Lord showed us all that his Spirit can shine through "whether it rains or pours". Praise be to God for giving us such a fun-filled day of feeding farm animals climbing through obstacle courses, picking our own pumpkins, and of course a bumpy wagon ride...all in the rain! Thank you to all the parents for being such sports and thank you to our awesome God for making our first school trip such a memorable one!

What an Awesome First Month of School!
Hello Parents!
We wanted to thank you all for your support in what's been an amazing first month of school! The kids have already progressed so much, learning how to properly write almost ten letters, memorized 4 bible verses in both English and French, and are now already learning how to put letter sounds together to make blends. We have felt the Lord smiling down upon us with each child in the class so enthusiastic and ready to learn and all of us having had so much fun teaching them!
As a reminder, we will be going on our first field trip to Forsythe Family Farm located on Kennedy Road just north of Major Mackenzie Drive this coming Friday October 9, 2009. Click on the following link for a full map and directions: http://www.forsythefamilyfarms.ca/
Our guided school tour will begin promptly at 10 a.m. so please arrive no later than 9:45 a.m. so that we can get organized before the tour starts. The tour will last until 1 p.m. including lunch time. Please dress yourselves and your children warmly with abundant layers since we will be outside the entire time. A special note that the farm has asked that we all pack litterless lunches that we can take back home with us when we are done.
Thank you very much and see you all at the farm!
